I hope you’re all enjoying this wonderful spell of weather we’re having – I know Andy & I & the pups (Pickle you have seen on a Friday at Spirohealth and Muffin) are certainly trying to make the most of it.
It’s coming into a hectic time of year for us at home – the tennis season is starting with Surbiton tournament this week & our house is filling up with players. The B&B is open for business! With so many people coming & going it can be quite trying to keep on top of everything & it’s easy to get bogged down with the day-to-day stuff – endless laundry, cleaning, food shopping (I’m not very good at that) etc.
However, we do also this time of year as for the next 6 weeks or so we will connect with all these people we only see once a year and get to hang out & have fun. We have made many life long friends through having players stay & are so thankful for that. There will be highs and lows, but these guys grind it out week in, week out & carry on doing what they love – and never giving up.
It’ll be a bit different this year – the first year without my father-in-law who was always a huge part of our Wimbledon. He always loved chatting to the players & they in turn loved hearing all his stories. We may have had our differences & difficulties, but he too loved this time of year & we have many fond memories of him. It’s so important to remember the good times and keep talking about him in his absence. It depends on what you believe but i think he is very much around us all the time.
Incidentally, He was also known for making the best Pimms – so here’s one for him.
Cheers, Douglas ️
